Chinese sentences are made up of parts that are connected together in a loose and casual way. There are often no special words to show the logical links between parts of speech or clauses. Every thing is arranged parallel to each other on a flat surface. Whereas in English, every part of speech or group of words is integrated together with connectives and prepositions showing their logical connections.

Various linguists have put forward dozens of theories and rules for translation. But in practicality, the end-result is the most important and all the various techniques and theories should only serve as means to help achieve the end. A fundamental requirement for a translator of Chinese into English translation is that he should have a very good command of both the source language and the target language, particularly the latter, without which, all the theories and techniques mean very little to him.

So, when we are in translating, we should concern English grammar, sentences structures, collocations and word and idiom usages in the light of their application in Chinese into English translation.
